It's Behrman's masterpiece, dear. He painted it on the night of the storm. (p. 31)    There are five stories with unusual endings in this book. They are about criminals and their crimes, detectives and their investigations, lovers and their hopes.   All of stories are in America. There were many kinds of criminals. Such as a Burglar, a safe-cracker, and so on.    But there were good people, too. Such as a kind old man, good lovers, and so on.    And each stories expressed dificulties of living in the world in the 19th century. The technology of medical treatment didn't develop enough, and it was difficult to earn money. So, there were many people who died when they were young.    I think that there were a lot of dramas of people in the 19th century. O. Henry. (2005). The Last Leaf and Other Stories.
